Reaper Marsh Troll (77152)
Happy new year! Let’s start with a big fat troll: The Reaper Marsh Troll (77152). I got him from the Bones 2 Kickstarter and I was eager to use the miniature in my D&D game. Finally, I found the perfect use for him as Trepsin the Troll.
In the Hoard of the Dragon Queen D&D adventure, the players encounter a big nasty troll in a remote location of the Dragon Cult. Trepsin is special, because he has four arms. As you can imagine, it’s rather hard to find a miniature to represent such a special snowflake. As part of the Reaper Bones 2 Kickstarter, I had a big troll figure with a huge club. Good enough for me, and also good enough for my players, who loved the mini.
Basing and Priming
I placed the mini on a “large” (2 inches) base and put some sand, pebbles and twigs on it. Then I primed the mini as usual in black and white with my airbrush. I forgot to take pictures right away, so here he is with the first baseboast of brown on the base.
Painting
This time, I took pictures of my wet palette to show you the colors I used. I’ll try to remember to do this in the future. I used basically the same colors as for the last two trolls, as I wanted him to fit in with his peers.
I tried my new red shade ink on his club to simulate the gory mess left behind after a hit with this massive weapon. I think it came out quite nicely. For the finishing touches on the base, I used the usual stuff.
And here he is!
