Queen of Dragons: Tiamat finished

After lots of modifications to the dragon’s heads and priming, the 12-inch beast was ready for some color! It took me two weeks of painting a couple of hours in the evening to finish the Dragon Queen. For the red alone, I used up almost a whole Vallejo Model Color bottle. But it was worth it: Tiamat is my biggest painting project to date, and I still love the end result. My players lost their minds, when I placed this beast on the battlemap in the final encounter of the adventure!

Queen of Dragons: Converting a Toscano statue into Tiamat

The final and ultimate miniature for my Tyranny of Dragons campaign is the Queen of Dragons, the goddess Tiamat herself! I saved this figure for last, and it’s a huge one. It is – by far – the biggest painting project I have done so far. It took me over a month of working on it nearly every day. Why is that? Because I took a 12 by 15 inch resin statue, which I first had to convert into Tiamat, which already took half of the time!

Pathfinder Red Dragon (89001) as Lennithon the Blue Dragon

In the very first session of the Tyranny of Dragons campaign, players of the adventure face an immense threat: An adult blue dragon attacking a village. I didn’t have a miniature then, but both my players and the dragon escaped. Before the finale of the campaign, I knew they had to face the blue dragon Lennithon again. And this time, I had this fantastic red dragon miniature from Reaper that would become my Lennithon.

Blightfang, the Green Dragon (77323)

Time for another dragon! Reaper’s Blightfang is a huge green dragon that I used for my Tyranny of Dragons campaign to depict the Chuth, the Emerald Assassin in the Misty Forest on the Sword Coast. He is directly associated with Neronvain the Green which I posted yesterday. It took me more time creating the forest base than painting the dragon 😉

Young Fire Dragon (77026)

Time for some dragons! In the Tyranny of Dragons campaign, my players were to face at least one of each type of chromatic dragon. They already faced an Adult Green Dragon that I already posted some years ago. I didn’t have miniatures for all colors at that time, but I had some models for Red dragons. Here is the young fire dragon!
