When playing a long-running D&D campaign, the Dungeon Master will probably use some sort of evil cult eventually. At least, I do! Evil cults are great antagonists, as they have evil minions and allies like devils, demons, or dragons. So I was very happy that the Reaper Bones Kickstarter included a couple of cultists I could use for my Storm King’s Thunder campaign.
The group’s fighter is a female knight from the Order of the Iron Gauntlet, Elena von Greifenfels. She is travelling with her squire, Wilhelm. Reaper’s Alaine, Female Paladin (02725) and Sir William Peacemaker (02477) were perfect matches.
One of the party’s clerics is Asgrim Fuxfell, Tempest Cleric of Tempus. Reaper’s Azarphan, Necropolis Captain (14052) seemed like the perfect miniature for him – except for the terrible helmet. So I swapped it for a Spartan head.

Today, I present you with an Emerald Claw Soldier (WizKids Abberrations #30) repainted as Captain Othelstan from Hoard of the Dragon Queen. He’s accompanied by two Axe Soldiers (War Drums #04) as his personal Cult of the Dragon bodyguards.

As my players progressed in the story of the HotDQ adventure, they met one of the cult’s leaders. Talis the White is a great NPC, being a priestress of Tiamat and wearing a white dragonscale armor. There’s a miniature from GaleForce9 for her I used.
In yet another repaint I used the Half-Elf Hexblade (Aberrations #33) miniature from WizKids to create a villain for my current D&D campaign. Balmorrer Borngrey leads the Cult of the Dragons attempts in the Mere of Dead Men.

The Red Wizards of Thay are a group of powerful wizards from a far away land in the Forgotten Realms setting. I repainted old D&D miniatures (Blood of Vol Cultist #29 and Mordenkainen the Mage #26) to use as Red Wizards in my campaign.
In Episode 3 of Hoard of the Dragon Queen, my players also ran into acolytes of the Cult of the Dragon. They are nasty divine spellcasters and perform dark rituals to please their dark gods. Otherworld’s Evil Acolytes I were a perfect match.
After facing Cyanwrath, my players snuck into the cultist camp in Episode 2 of Hoard of the Dragon Queen. There, they met the local cell’s leader: Frulam Mondath. I found the perfect mini for her in Reaper’s Devona (77036).

One faction of dragon cultists is still missing: The Black Wing of Tiamat. I was running out of miniatures at that point during painting, and I only had one figure left. So now I present to you: The one cultist of the Black Wing: A lone archer.
