Dub Bullock (77207) and Female Rogue (unknown)

A group of Zhentarim called the Seven Snakes arrived in the village of Nightstone after the goblins were dealt with. Their leader Xolkin Alassandar is a sly bandit captain. His gang wants to meet up with a Zhentarim spy named Kella Darkhope who hid in the village a couple of days before. Both NPCs needed a nice miniature. Dub Bullock from Reaper would make a great bandit leader. For Kella Darkhope I, used a female rogue miniature from my old bag of minis.

Beasts! Wargs (Reaper 77202) and wolves (Ral Partha CS-90)

Wargs and goblins sometimes get together to make trouble. Not only in the Lord of the Rings, wargs are used as goblin mounts – this fantasy trope is also used in Dungeons and Dragons. So naturally, if a goblin raiding party comes to pillage a village, they bring some wargs! I had one warg from the Reaper Bones Kickstarers, and bought a couple more for an exciting D&D encounter in Nightstone. I also had some old Ral Partha wolf miniatures that I also painted in parallel.

Pathfinder Goblin Warriors (89003) and Warchanter (89004)

It’s the start of my Storm King’s Thunder D&D campaign, and the village of Nightstone is overrun by goblins and wargs. That’s a welcome reason to paint up some Pathfinder goblins from the second Reaper Bones Kickstarter! The Kickstarter included the Pathfinder Goblin Warriors, a warchanter chief, and a group of four Pyros. Let’s start with the Warriors!

Player Character: Quarion Silverhand

The last of the player characters in my Storm King’s Thunder campaign is Quarion, a moon elf master archer. Quarion is a divine trickster rogue (the divine version of the arcane trickster). For his miniature, I needed an elf with a cool bow. Luckily, from the second Reaper Bones Kickstarter I had the elf Arathanel of the Dragons don’t share set. This guy holds a huge bow in a dynamic pose – a perfect match!

Player Character: Janikarumshed Hopsward

The rock gnome cleric/wizard Janik is the next player character in need of a miniature. He’s more of a wizard than a cleric, really, and he is in pursuit of knowledge. There were not many gnome miniatures that really caught my eye, but Reaper Miniatures’ “Halfling Wizard” was a good fit. We just needed to get rid of the rabbit familar and make the halfling put on some shoes.

Player Character: Otiros Firebird

Otiros is a phoenix sorcerer, a subclass dedicated to the legendary phoenix, and it focuses on fire damage all the way. There are lots of cool miniatures of robe wearing wizardry types. Otiros’ player liked Reaper Miniatures’ Halmar best – it’s a robed male, playing with an open flame. So Halmar became Otiros Firebird!

Malek the Necromancer (77172)

Beware of spoilers! The final confrontation of the Tyranny of Dragons campaign waits at the Well of Dragons, a citadel and a graveyard of dragons. A death knight named Naergoth Bladelord and lich rule there for the Cult of the Dragon. I already had a lich and a death knight, but I wanted another undead knight with the purple colors of the cult. Malek the Necromancer from the Reaper Bones Kickerstarter was perfect!

Pathfinder Red Dragon (89001) as Lennithon the Blue Dragon

In the very first session of the Tyranny of Dragons campaign, players of the adventure face an immense threat: An adult blue dragon attacking a village. I didn’t have a miniature then, but both my players and the dragon escaped. Before the finale of the campaign, I knew they had to face the blue dragon Lennithon again. And this time, I had this fantastic red dragon miniature from Reaper that would become my Lennithon.

Burrowing Horror (77372)

And yet another miniature that has nothing to do with my Tyranny of Dragons campaign. I have to take some more pictures of the final baddies before posting them, so I present to you something completely different in the meantime: Reaper’s Burrowing Horror is their version of the D&D classic “land shark” or “bulette”. It was part of the Reaper Bones Kickstarter and only took one evening to paint.
